Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future after a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
