The British heavyweight stood by his controversial comments about wanting to “kill” Jake Paul during a media gathering in Miami on Wednesday.

The remarks were initially uttered on Tuesday when the boxer was questioned if he would hold back against the social media star, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has drawn debate over the risk involved and the size difference between the two fighters.

Fury Labels AJ a “Classless Loser”

Former world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King branded Joshua a “disgrace” for his extreme rhetoric.

But Joshua, justified his position: “This is my profession, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I'm sure many people don't comprehend it but this is what my job is. I love what I do. Whatever happens, happens - provided that my hand is held high, that's what's paramount, respectfully.”

He continued, “That's just the psychology we have to have as warriors. I don't know if other boxers think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more reserved. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a perilous thing. Anything can happen.”

“You pray your adversary leaves the ring unharmed, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It wasn't personal.”

Jake Paul's Incendiary Response

Paul, a huge underdog in the heavyweight contest as a career lighter fighter, was no less fiery in his reply.

“This is a modern day gladiator sport,” he stated. “I'm prepared. I want his most powerful punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all said and done. We should kill each other.”

AJ will face Paul, 28, at Florida's arena in a bout many see as a glaring mismatch, with some arguing it should have been sanctioned as an exhibition bout.

The official fight will be fought over 8 three-minute stanzas using regular ten-ounce gloves, with a specified maximum weight for Joshua.

He Claims He Was “Called In to Rescue” Boxing

Despite the vulgar language used, the fighter claimed he has been “called in to rescue” boxing.

“They want me to halt the Jake Paul phenomenon and I understand it and that's why I have to carry the sport on my back in this fight,” he concluded.

The news conference also had more humorous exchanges, with AJ laughing as Paul sang ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’ to him.

The final staredown passed peacefully, with the underdog striking a odd posture before the champion stayed composed and playfully grabbed his necklace.

Both Fighters Dismiss Scripted Allegations

The unusual aspect of this bout has led to speculation about its legitimacy, including claims that Joshua may be prohibited from scoring a knockout.

“There are no clauses in the contract, AJ can confirm it. We're going to war,” Jake Paul insisted.

The former champion, sporting a valuable necklace, jokingly added, “The only thing in the agreement that got my interest was the money.”

Paul has claimed on his platforms that the total purse will be extremely high.

Jake Paul first made his name as an digital influencer, amassing a huge social media following.

He has not faced anyone of Joshua's pedigree but maintained that his opponent would take him seriously.

“It's smart on his part,” he said. “This could potentially be, and will be, the biggest defeat of his career.”
