Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Salah expressed regret to the team following the fallout from his televised remarks.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following making accusations and stating his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the team's response remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
The midfielder also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I understand there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have remained strong in the period after the initial controversy. He feels the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a desire to win,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, getting results and on a positive run.”
