Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
