Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Shooting as Authorities Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the recent mass shooting on the university campus were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer persisted following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a raid at a lodging about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our community”.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, friends, and peers and mourn the loss of his potential.”
